Our Local Suppliers
Morris is a multi award winning butcher and has even supplied sausages to the Prince of Wales. He uses meat from local Northumbrian farms and sausages are his speciality. We buy the sausage, dry cured bacon, black pudding, gammon and pork mince for our pork pies from Morris’ second shop at Heighley Gate Morpeth. The Martineau sausage is made exclusively for the guest house and is based on the ‘Cragside Cracker’ one of Morris’ award winning sausages with an extra ingredient added. If you have one of our sausages for breakfast why not try and guess what the extra ingredient is. The Cragside Cracker is made from pork, red onion and rosemary.
Lintz Hall Farm Eggs are 100% free range. The hens have a spacious field together with a large state of the art shed, which allows the hens to roam freely, relax and socialise – thus producing a better way of life for the hens and larger, higher quality eggs. Lintz Hall farm is in Burnopfield County Durham.
Situated on the Fish Quay at North Shields Taylors are one of the largest retail fish and seafood outlets in the North East and carry an extensive stock of fresh and frozen seafood. Their fresh fish display is stocked with fish every day fresh from North Shields Fish Market, ensuring freshness and quality is guaranteed. We buy our smoked haddock, kippers and smoked salmon from Taylors. The haddock is smoked at the Fish Quay and the kippers are Swallow Fish kippers from Seahouses in Northumberland. Rick Stein has described their kippers as food heroes
They have been producing artisan cheese in South Northumberland since 1984. Based in a small dairy on the Blagdon Estate they hand-make, wrap and sell a full range of 16 farmhouse cheeses. Using the milk of cows, sheep, goats and jersey they have a wide range available; offering a perfect cheese for every taste bud. the milk is locally sourced and they can trace each mouthful of Northumberland Cheese back to the farms. Although small they have a big passion for hand crafting fine cheese and have won a handful of cheese awards. Northumberland Cheese company have a stall at the Tynemouth Farmer’s market in Tynemouth station the third Saturday of every month. We buy cheeses for our picnics, hampers and continental breakfasts.
Artisan Bakery, Whitley Bay.
After 12 years as a chef and having honed the craft of artisan bakery at the Black Sheep Bakery, Gibside and Newcastle Quayside markets, Robert Bell has now opened a new premises in Whitley Bay. Bringing a taste of France to the North East, the bakery boasts a well stocked fromagerie and charcuterie in addition to croissants, pain au chocolat and speciality breads. Our croissants and pain aux raisin for our continental breakfasts are made here.
Deep in the heart of Northumberland is the North East’s only organic flour mill. The mill gently stone grinds the rare breed grains into some of the finest flour you can lay your hands on. Gilchesters work with nature grinding only what they grow themselves. The unique grains are especially suited to this part of the world and are grown in pure unadulterated soil, free from pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and agrochemicals. Our flour for all our baked products is produced at Gilchesters, including unbleached white flour.

Fruit and Veg. We purchase our fruit and vegetables mainly from the local Tynemouth Greengrocers but do also use the local supermarkets.
Conserves. All our conserves are made at the Guest House using high quality ingredients
Ham. Our honey and mustard baked ham is cooked at the guesthouse using gammon from Rothbury Family butchers.
