At Martineau Guest House we care about the environment. We aim to reduce our carbon footprint and minimise our impact on the environment without compromising the quality of our guest’s stay. We have therefore taken steps to manage the business in an environmentally responsible way. A new initiative in this drive is to reduce the use of plastic bags by providing guests with re-useable bags which they can borrow for their shopping during their stay. Currently we just have one bag per room but are looking into getting some bags with our logo on in the future. I would love to get your feedback on this idea.

From the tree to the jar in under an hour! Yesterday these plums were growing in my back garden and now I have made them into jam for the guests to enjoy. Definitely keeping our carbon footprint low!
I have recently upgraded the toiletries in the rooms to Neals Yard Remedies Organics. These gorgeous products are going down really well with guests and so to add to their stay I have also now introduced a small facial pack as a gift for guests to try the products. As you can imagine guests really appreciate the thoughtful touches we provide.
We have just had a major overhaul of the website and added lots of new pictures and information, including this blog page. I think it’s looking great and reflects the Martineau ethos much better than before. To celebrate the new look website we have a competition on our Facebook page. If you like and share the post about the new look website you could win a voucher for one nights stay for two people at Martineau. It would also be great if you like the Facebook page too. Don’t forget you need to share the post as well as like it. Good luck
I have recently launched a new initiative at the guest house. Following comments from some guests you can now order a continetal breakfast in bed. Choosing from a wide range of items your order is delivered to your room in a stylish whicker hamper with wooden trays made locally from recycled wood. These have been well received by guests with one guest commenting ” My husband and I were the very lucky guests who ahd the pleasure of waking up to the very first breakfast hamper and it was delicious! the homemade lemon curd was the star of the show in my husbands eyes. we really enjoyed our second stay at Martineau and the added bonus of this wonderful feast, while looking out over the sea, was the icing on the cake.”
Another guest who had some mobility problems was delighted to be able to have her breakfast in her room and said that, although she has stayed at lots of hotels, her Continental Breakfast in Bed was the nicest breakfast she has had.
If you have any suggestions as to how we can improve the service we offer our guests then please let us know.
